Get Your Fill of the Pill
On August 1st, 2012, new guidelines for women’s health care will go into effect, including the reclassification of birth control pills as preventative medicine. This distinction means birth control pills will be covered without co-pay or deductible. This will remove a major cost barrier that previously prevented women from using such forms of prescription contraception. Other preventative services will also remove co-pays and deductibles from other preventative procedures like emergency contraceptive pills and mammograms, which can be extremely expensive.
